The family of CGTN journalist and former KTN journalist the late Nick Mudimba, who died on March 23, 2025, has announced a fundraiser.
According to an obituary published by the family, the fundraiser is scheduled for March 30, 2025, at Shaba Village, Syokimau, at 5:30 pm.

Mudimba will be buried at his rural home in Gem, Dudi, on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
“There will be a requiem mass at Holy Family Basilica on April 3rd from 2.00 pm. The body will be airlifted to Kisumu on Friday, 4th April 2025, then transported by road to his rural home in Gem, Dudi for an overnight stay,” announced the family.

A family source indicated that Mudimba had been diagnosed with health complications, including high uric acid levels, the day before his demise.

Nick was the beloved son of the late Francis Mudimba and Mary Mudimba, and a cherished brother of Lilian, Kenneth, Louisa, Henry, and Paschal.

He was married to Winny and father to Shanice.

His Journalism Career
Nick worked at China Global Television Network (CGTN) Africa. Previously, he worked in different media houses in Kenya, such as KTN, Switch TV, Radio Africa, SuperSport, and Bamba TV.
He was known for his passion as a sports journalist, and he was known for mentoring aspiring sportscasters.
Days before his death, he posted a tweet rallying Kenyans to fill up Nyayo Stadium ahead Harambee Stars and Gambia game.
His employer, CGTN, described him as an energetic journalist with impeccable interpersonal skills.
“His jovial character saw him nurture personal and professional relationships within CGTN and beyond,” CGTN said in a statement.
The company added, “He was a dependable professional, who committed himself to providing outstanding work within tight deadlines. Outside the newsroom, Nick was a trained pilot, who was passionate about flying. He often looked forward to flying during his off days.”

Nick Mudimba wears another hat, he was also a qualified pilot and passionate about flying.
Despite having a lucrative career at flying, Nick described that his main passion is to be in a newsroom, where he can explore different aspects of his personality.
During CGTN series of Know your Correspondent, Mudimba revealed that his career as a journalist has helped him to serve a much higher purpose and help people in many ways.
