President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, has spoken about the ongoing #rejectfinancebill2024 protests for the first time.
In a statement, Charlene said she stands in a very unique position regarding the issues currently facing the country.
Charlene stated that she recognizes the calls by the youth and congratulated them for taking a stand on the country’s current affairs.
She advised the youth to air their opinions with respect and honour and enhance peace as they make the calls.
Charlene maintained that the government and the youth will find a solution to the issues raised.
“As a youth champion, I hear the cry of this generation and give my kudos that we not only care about current affairs but have a stand and are willing to raise our concerns,” she said.
“This is a gamechanger. Let’s do it consistently, in an informed manner, with respect and honour. That is how we will be heard. May we dwell in unity, peace and liberty. A way will be made.”
Charlene Defends Her Father
Besides, she defended President Ruto stating that he has the concerns and interest of the county at heart.
“As a president’s daughter, I have no doubt in my mind, watching my father rise in politics for over 30 years, seeing his work and passion behind the scenes, that he truthfully holds the best interests of Kenyans at heart,” she said.

Her comments come days after President Ruto applauded the youth for stepping forward and fighting for their rights.
Ruto explained that the government is ready to engage with Gen Z to discuss the issues affecting them.
“These youth are our children that we have given birth to and taken care of. I want to congratulate them for stepping forward and engaging in the affairs of their country,” Ruto said.
The President said the government is concerned about the issues affecting the youth and will engage with them to build a greater nation.
“We are going to engage the youth and have conversations so that we can identify your issues,” Ruto added.

Plans to Adress Gen Z Concerns
Ruto mentioned that the government addressed the issues raised by the youth by allocating an additional Ksh 10 billion to the Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
“Our young people will be able to get bursaries, and we will be able to build ICT hubs so that these young people can get digital jobs because we know the challenge of unemployment in the country,” he added.
He said the government allocated more funds to the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to allow students to enroll in TVETs and universities.
