Former Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has suggested a plan to unseat Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja in the next elections.
Speaking on February 26, Gachagua stated that he would collaborate with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to secure the majority of seats in Nairobi County.

He emphasized that a coalition between their regions would have a strong chance of dominating Nairobi politics.
He further asserted that such an alliance could also secure the majority of Nairobi’s parliamentary seats, as well as the Senator and Woman Representative positions.

“Going forward, we will work with the Kamba region in Nairobi, and we will win the gubernatorial seat. We will also win the Senatorial seat and Woman Representative position,” Gachagua said.
He added that out of Nairobi’s 17 constituencies, a well-structured agreement between Wiper and his political faction could secure 14 MP seats.

Among the constituencies he mentioned were Embakasi East, represented by Babu Owino, as well as Mathare, Makadara, and Kibra.
“We usually lose these seats because we don’t communicate, yet we are cousins. This time, we will work together,” he remarked.
Gachagua added that the agreement would also extend its influence to Mombasa County.
He asserted that the coalition would back a strong candidate to challenge and replace Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir in the next elections.
“Even in Mombasa, if we work together and support a Wiper candidate for governor, they will win,” he said.

Ukambani Region Joining Mt. Kenya
Gachagua also denied reports that there is an agreement with Kalonzo to rename the Lower Eastern region as Mt. Kenya south.
According to Gachagua, Kalonzo has more than 2 million vote-rich block backing him but this can increase to 4 million votes before the 2027 elections.
He mentioned that he is working to increase the votes in the Mt. Kenya from 6.5 million to 10 million before the polls.
Gachagua explained that the numbers if brought together are enough to win an election.
“When we are split, we both lose,” he said.

Furthermore, he stated that he does not need to be the presidential candidate in the coalition.
He emphasized that their main goal is to win the election with a leader who prioritizes the country’s interests.
“I don’t have to be president, who said so? All we want is to win the elections with a strong team that loves their country, does not prioritize personal business interests, and is committed to rescuing this nation,” he said.
