Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has accused comedian Eric Omondi of orchestrating the viral “Wantam” chants directed at her while she addressed an endometriosis awareness event at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
In a statement on September 28, Karen Nyamu said the event was intended to focus on Natalie and raise awareness about endometriosis, but attention shifted to her after she took the stage.
“Yesterday was supposed to be about Natalie and Endo awareness. I wish she was trending today instead of me. I wish all TV and Radio shows this morning were about her story and not about me,” she said.
Karen Nyamu Accuses Eric Omondi of Planning Chants
Karen Nyamu alleged that Omondi and the event’s MC, Antonio, instructed people at the back of the venue to chant when she began speaking.
She said she had noticed Omondi and Antonio making several trips to the back of the venue before she took the stage.
Also, she cited Omondi’s introduction, during which he said the two did not agree politically, as what she believed was a cue for the chants.
“I believe Eric Omondi planned what happened when I took the stage. I’m told he and Antonio, the MC, instructed people at the back to chant when I spoke. I had been seeing them make many trips to the back,” she explained.
Nyamu also referred to an earlier incident involving the late Shalkido and a motorbike.
She claimed that Shalkido had asked her for a motorbike and that she arranged to provide one. According to Nyamu, Shalkido later did not respond to calls from her personal assistant when the motorcycle was to be collected.

Karen Nyamu said she later saw videos of Omondi giving Shalkido a motorbike. She further claimed that Shalkido subsequently appeared on the Obinna show, where he thanked Omondi and accused her of playing him while expressing support for “Wantam.”
Nyamu Reaffirms Support for President Ruto
The senator said she remains firmly behind President William Ruto, whom she described as the candidate with a clear plan for the country.
She rejected joining “Wantam”, saying she would not do so for what she described as “cheap cheers”.
“I stand firmly behind President William Ruto because he is the only candidate I see with a clear plan for this country. I won’t join Wantam for a few cheap cheers.”
Nyamu concluded her statement by saying she would continue supporting the President and added, “Even God is Tutam.”
Crowd Boos at Nyamu With ‘Wantam’ Chants
Karen Nyamu faced a hostile reception at the KICC on September 27, after sections of the crowd broke into “Wantam” chants as she addressed attendees.

Nyamu was speaking at Natalie Githinji’s Endometriosis Warriors event, which brought together thousands of people for a day of entertainment, awareness, and advocacy for women living with endometriosis.
Videos from the event showed the senator attempting to address the packed auditorium when members of the crowd began chanting “Wantam,” a political slogan associated with calls for President William Ruto to serve only one term.
Despite the interruptions, Nyamu continued with her remarks, focusing on efforts to push the issue of endometriosis through Parliament.
She said she had given notice on September 10 to move a motion on the condition, which she said affects millions of women.
