Narc Party leader Martha Karua has weighed in on former Prime Minister Raila Odinga endorsing Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Appearing on TV47, on Monday, October 23, Karua defended Raila’s sentiments arguing that there is nothing wrong with picking Kalonzo for 2027.
“My leader Raila Odinga clarified on the matter of endorsing Kalonzo Musyoka. Let’s assume if he were to endorse Kalonzo Musyoka, there would be absolutely nothing wrong with that,” she said.
Further, Karua explained that the ODM leader is free to endorse any politician within the Azimio One Kenya Alliance Coalition.
“He is entitled to endorse whomever he feels like, but that doesn’t lock the doors for anyone else, the power is with the people,” said Karua.
Moreover, she said that such an endorsement cannot cause divisions in Azimio emphasizing that unity within the coalition is of more importance.
“So long as Azimio moves forward focused and democratic, then even if it has one hundred candidates, it will be able to sort it out,” she explained.
Moreover, Karua declined to talk about her plans for the 2027 presidential race.
Instead, she explained that the Azimio is focused on the issues of cost of living and electoral justice.
“I am not ready to talk about my ambitions right now we are talking about the cost of living and electoral justice,” said Karua.
“I do not wish for my view to be clouded by issues that are far off,” she added.

Karua On Political Parties and Coalitions
Karua dismissed claims that political parties and coalitions are formed only to win the elections.
“It is not true that coalitions are only formed for the elections, they somewhat survive. If people like Kalonzo left the National Super Alliance (NASA), he returned,” she said.
Additionally, she said some members might leave the coalitions but there is a goal that always remains.
“Azimio is no different, most of us are firmly where we were, and you can see us moving on steadily.
People may continue to leave while others join but I know that unity of purpose will survive the test of time and there is a goal that will remain,” said Karua.

Kamwene Unity Forum
Also, Karua explained that Kamwene is a loose political forum and not a political party for people from Mt. Kenya region.
“It is clear that there is political and economic marginalization targeting Mt. Kenya region, Kamwene is meant to resist such marginalization,” she said.
In addition, Karua said Kamwene is not meant to harm the interest of the other parts of the country.
Furthermore, she was categorical that the objectives of Kamwene will be included in the Azimio Coalition.
“We must caucus, this is just a loose forum. I saw 40 people from Mombasa caucusing, how comes interest is never raised when other regions caucus but when Mt. Kenya politicians meet people are sleepless even if it is just a handful leaders,” asked Karua.
Moreover, she said the home caucuses will eventually strengthen Azimio and the unity of the country.
