Siaya Governor James Orengo stated that President William Ruto has no business educating Kenyans about the rule of law.
Governor Orengo noted that the rule of law applies only when leaders take lead in obeying them.
“I heard him say that no one is above the law, that we believe in the rule of law. The greatest violators of the rule of law are those in power. Nobody in Kenya is above the law including the president,” Orengo said.
“The President has no business at all in giving warning to citizens about the rule of law. The rule of law works when leaders obey the law.” He added.
Moreover, Orengo’s remarks follows resident Ruto’s sentiments that Kenya will run based on the rule of law and the Constitution where all citizens have equal rights.
The head of state noted that he will make sure nobody threatens Kenyans with impunity.

“Everybody must respect the law and this country is going to be governed by the rule of law and we will make sure that everybody obeys the Constitution,” President Ruto said.
Nonetheless, opposition leader Raila Odinga issued a 14-day ultimatum for the government to lower the cost of living or face mass action.
The Azimio leader noted that Kenya Kwanza administration’s failure to stabilize the cost of basic commodities within two weeks will see the Opposition stage anti-government demonstrations.
“We’ve talked about the rising cost of basic commodities like unga, electricity, fuel, sugar and milk among others for far too long. We have complained about rising taxes and talked about children dropping out of school for lack of fees,” Raila said.
