The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has fully digitised the process of acquiring the new generation reflective number plate.
Vehicle owners, companies, and motor dealers can complete the entire application on the government’s eCitizen portal without visiting NTSA offices.
The procedure is simple if followed step by step.
Create or log in to your eCitizen Account to apply for the number plate
Start by visiting www.ecitizen.go.ke.
Use your national ID number and password to sign in.
New users must register first, providing personal details and a valid email address to receive updates.
Access NTSA Service Portal
Once logged in, select the NTSA Service Portal (New).
This is where all motor vehicle services are available.
From the menu, select “Motor Vehicle Services”, then click on “Reflective number plates” to begin the application.
Select the Type and Collection Centre
Indicate whether you require a single (rear only) or a pair of the plates for both front and back.
You will also be asked to pick your preferred collection office, usually an NTSA centre or a designated Huduma Centre, where the plates will be delivered.
Upload Required Documents
Prepare your documents in advance and merge them into one PDF file.
Typically, you need a copy of the vehicle logbook and clear photos of the current number plates.
Upload this file to the application portal as instructed.
Confirm and Submit Application
