Popular comedian Eric Omondi has launched a fundraising campaign to support Charles Wambua, the man who bravely retrieved bodies from the Mukuru quarry.
Omondi took to his Instagram account on July 15, praising Wambua’s courageous and unwavering commitment to the retrieval exercise.
He urged his “Sisi Kwa Sisi” team to come together and help change Wambua’s life completely, recognizing the selfless nature of his actions.
“I’m here with Kenyan hero Charles Wambua, this guy single handedly retrieved 13 bodies, team Sisi Kwa Sisi I want us to change this guy’s life.”
“Send any amount you can so that we can change Charles’ life, the things he has gone through can bring trauma,” he said.

Furthermore, Omondi said that Wambua deserved to be celebrated as a true hero, unlike those who merely occupy offices.
He emphasized that real heroes are individuals like Wambua, who lead with their actions rather than empty words.

Joining Omondi in supporting Wambua was Spot on Vacations CEO Mark Steve, who pledged to gift Wambua a 3-day all expenses paid trip to Mombasa.
Additionally, the CEO pledged Ksh 10,000 to the “Sisi Kwa Sisi” fundraiser.

Accompanying his Instagram post was a caption urging his followers to contribute to the initiative and help change Wambua’s life.
He also provided Wambua’s phone number for those wishing to send their contributions directly.
“Hero sio watu wako kwa ofisi… Hawa ndio Heroes. This guy Kyalo Wambua alijitolea na aka Retrieve 13 bodies from Kware Mukuru Kwa Njenga.”

Public Reactions
Wambua first gained prominence after video footage and images of him engaged in the recovery process made rounds on social media.
Kenyans touched by his courage and selflessness, praised him for doing the painful but crucial job, they even started their own fundraiser for the man who stood out amidst the tragedy.
Reacting to Eric’s post Kenyans remained in agreement that Wambua deserved recognition for his actions.
“He deserves more than just that I wish we could secure him a job in organizations like The Kenya Redcross. Imagine mtu anajitolea kufanya hivo,” said Dalili Tasha.

“This proves that hakuna pahali blessings haziwezi kupata, congrats good job,” said blankets and Fleece.
Similarly, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei expressed her admiration for Wambua for his efforts in the retrieval of the bodies at Mukuru.
She urged the National Police service to employ Wambua since he had proven himself to be quite a valuable asset in the operation.
“On that matter I think the police the police should hire Wambua actually because he’s definitely an asset he’s very professional and has a skill that seems that nobody has,” said Shollei.
