Twitter Withdraws Contentious Policy Banning Users from the Platform

Twitter deleted a tweet thread from its @TwitterSupport account that had announced the policy.

Less than 24 hours after a controversial introduction, Twitter pulled down the contentious new policy last evening that had previously banned links to certain other social media platforms.

Last week, American billionaire and Twitter owner launched a Twitter poll in which he asked users to give their views on whether he should step down as head of the platform.

“Following an immense backlash against the policy, Twitter removed the blog post that had outlined which rival sites users would be prohibited from tweeting links to, including Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon and Truth Social,” as per Brian Fung.
