Formed in 1969, Tusker FC is sponsored by East African Breweries. It is named after the company’s flagship beer brand, “Tusker”, which has formed its identity since its inception.
The club was known as Kenya Breweries until 1999, when the current name, Tusker, was adopted. The club’s nickname is “The Brewers.”
Led by chairperson Charles Gacheru, the team is based in Nairobi, with its home ground being Ruaraka Stadium, which has a capacity of around 4,000. people
Tusker FC Honours
Tusker is the second most successful club in Kenya, having won 13 Kenya Premier League titles, behind Gor Mahia’s record 21 titles.
The brewers have won the Kenya Cup 3 times in 2012, 2013, 2021 and the FKF President’s Cup 4 times in 1975, 1989, 1993 and 2016.

Tusker FC’s most intense rivalry is against Gor Mahia, the most successful club in Kenyan football.
The Brewers have played 34 matches against Gor, winning 8 and drawing 12, with Gor Mahia winning the remaining 12.
A tense rivalry against recent FKF champions Kenya Police FC has also emerged, with Tusker winning 4 of the 7 matches and drawing two, in a battle where Tusker fights to retain its pride as one of Kenya’s most legendary football clubs.
Legendary Players
Tusker FC has over the years played a big part in Kenyan football and has inspired many upcoming talents to join the team, producing the likes of:
McDonald Mariga – Mariga played briefly for Tusker in 2003–2004 while still in high school and went on to become the first East African to play in the UEFA Champions League, winning it with Inter Milan in 2010.
Humphrey Mieno – A modern-day legend and midfield maestro, who helped Tusker win the 2016 league and cup double.
Allan Wanga – A key player for Harambee stars, the prolific striker who used Tusker as a springboard to a successful international career in Angola, Sudan, Vietnam, and South Africa.
Patrick Matasi – Although recently temporarily suspended from the Tusker FC first team squad, the veteran keeper and former team captain has been one of the best Brewers, known for his consistency and leadership at both club and national level.

Recent Developments
Charles Okere remains the head coach after being confirmed to continue through the end of the season. The club has chosen stability and continuity over seeking a more experienced replacement following Robert Matano’s departure.
Chairman Charles Gacheru has expressed full confidence in Okere and the current technical bench, citing recent improvements in form as justification for the decision.
Charles Momanyi, the club captain and central defender, has extended his contract for another season. He remains a key figure in the dressing room and on the pitch.
