The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has made an appeal to Kenyans who may have any information on the whereabouts of a missing National Women’s Under 20 Team-Rising Starlets-player Jane Hato.

FKF in a notice on Thursday, August 15, 2024, called on Kenyans to help find Hato, who is the U20 Rising Starlets captain.

The governing body explained that the player was declared missing after she failed to join her team for their planned journey to Ethiopia.

Jane Hato, a Kenya Police Bullets Football Club player, did not arrive at the designated meeting point, with FKF stating that her current whereabouts remain unknown.

“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has been made aware of the concerning situation involving Jane Hato, the captain of the Kenya u20 Women’s National team and a player for Kenya Police Bullets fc,” said FKF.

“Jane was expected to join her team for their journey to Ethiopia for the CAF women’s champions league zonal qualifiers. However, she did not arrive at the designated meeting point, and her current whereabouts are unknown.”

On their part, National Women’s football team Harambee Starlets echoed the appeal urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of U20 Rising Starlets captain to contact the parties listed by FKF.

Back in March, Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) team KCB Football Club player Brian Opiyo Olang’o was reported missing after being abducted by unknown people and later dumped in the Ngong Forest.

However, the goalkeeper was found alive after a harrowing ordeal that left the football community reeling in shock and disbelief.

KCB FC issued an update through a statement on March 12, 2024, noting that they had communicated with his family which confirmed the news.

“The family of our keeper Brian Olang’o has confirmed that the player was found safe. We thank everybody for their concern,” the statement read.

He was rescued and rushed at the Radiant Hospital in Umoja, Nairobi for treatment after suffering minor injuries during the ordeal.

Sources close to the player confirmed that Opiyo was discovered abandoned deep in Ngong forest after an abduction experience.

Inaugural Kenya Police FC Day

Meanwhile, Jane Hato’s case comes following the inaugural Kenya Police FC Day held at Kenya Police Sacco Stadium on August 10, 2024.

The Police FC and Kenya Police Bullets FC fraternity converged in a ceremony presided over by Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo.

The teams during the ceremony signed for the 2024/2025 season, launched team football academy, and played friendly matches.

In his remarks, PS Omollo, the Club’s Patron, commended the teams for their impressive results and wished them well as they set their sights on representing the country in Continental Football.

The Club’s chairman, Nyale Munga S/AIG who is also the Commandant National Police College-Main Campus Kiganjo also said that the Police team’s active participation in football had promoted the spirit of Community Policing between the police and communities.
