Lamine Yamal made history by becoming the youngest ever goal scorer in the Euro 2024 tournament after scoring a stunning equalizer during Spain’s semifinal match against France.
With Spain trailing 1-0, Yamal curled a brilliant strike in the 21st minute from outside the box past France goalkeeper Mike Maignan from 25 yards into the top left corner, etching his name into the history books.
At just 16 years and 362 days old, he became the youngest player ever to score in the tournament’s history, leaving spectators in awe of his remarkable talent.
The previous youngest scorer was Swiss player Johan Vonlanthen (18 years, 141 days), also against France, at Euro 2004.
Spain came back to beat France 2-1 in Munich on Tuesday, securing a spot in the Euro 2024 final.

The Spain ace was long tipped to take the record and duly earned his place in the history books as the youngest player to have featured at a UEFA Euro final.
At just 16 years and 338 days old, he took the field against Croatia at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
The Barcelona prodigy beat the benchmark set by Poland’s Kacper Kozłowski, who made his competition debut at EURO 2020 at the age of just 17 years 246 days.
Yamal quickly impressed his fans by setting up Dani Carvajal’s goal in a 3-0 victory, naturally also making him the youngest player to serve up an assist in a EURO finals game.
Yamal’s goal also made him to become the youngest player ever to win Man of the Match in UEFA game.

Lamine’s Debut to Barcelona FC
Lamine Yamal’s journey to FC Barcelona began at the age of 7 when he joined from his local club CF La Torreta.
His rapid progression through the ranks at La Masia set him apart from his peers, racing through age categories quicker than any other player of his generation.
Even before establishing himself with the U19s, Yamal caught the attention of coach Xavi Hernández, who requested his presence in first-team training.
In April 2023, at just 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days old, he made history by debuting for the first team in a 4-0 victory over Real Betis, becoming Barcelona’s youngest-ever player.
Following an impressive 2022/23 season, Yamal continued with the first team during the 2023/24 preseason.
Despite being registered with the B squad, he has become a regular fixture in the first-team squad under the guidance of coach Xavi Hernández.
His impressive performances earned him the inaugural U23 Player of the Month award for August.
On December 4, 2023, Yamal was awarded the inaugural Golden Boy the Youngest trophy, given to the youngest player nominated for the Golden Boy award.

Yamal’s Record in Champions League
On January 11, 2024, Lamine Yamal scored in a 2–0 victory over Osasuna in the Supercopa de España semifinal, making history as the youngest player to score in the Supercopa at just 16 years and 182 days old
Two weeks later, on January 25, Yamal scored in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals against Athletic Bilbao, despite an eventual 4–2 loss after extra time.
This goal further cemented his place in history as the youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history, surpassing the previous record set by Juanmi in 2010.
During the La Liga season at just 16 years of age, Yamal achieved numerous records for Barcelona and in the league itself.
He became the youngest starter for Barcelona, the youngest player to record an assist, and the youngest to score for both Barcelona and in La Liga.
Additionally, Yamal became the youngest player to feature for Barcelona in El Clásico and the youngest player to score a brace in La Liga, setting a new record as the first player ever to achieve this feat under the age of 17.
He is also the youngest player ever in Barcelona’s history to reach 50 official games and also the youngest to reach top three podium of the Golden Boy.
In the Champions League, Yamal continued to make history as the second youngest player to feature in the competition (after Youssoufa Moukoko), the youngest player named in a starting line-up, and the youngest player to play in the knockout phase.
His exceptional performances also saw him become the youngest player to register more than 10 goal contributions in La Liga at the age of 16 years and 213 days.
