Few young Kenyan footballers have experienced a rise as rapid as that of Mohamed Bajaber.
From humble beginnings at a Nairobi-based academy to earning a Harambee Stars call-up and securing a move to Tanzanian giants Simba SC, Bajaber has become one of the most promising attacking players of his generation.
At just 23, Bajaber has already played for Nairobi City Stars, won the FKF Premier League with Kenya Police FC, represented Kenya at senior international level, and secured a transfer to Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
Despite injury setbacks that interrupted his progress in recent months, he remains one of the country’s most highly rated footballers.
Early Years in Saudi Arabia, Football Career and Family
Mohamed Omar Ali Bajaber was born on March 15, 2003, in Nairobi. Bajaber spent much of his early childhood in Saudi Arabia, where he first developed an interest in football.
In an interview with Radio Jambo, the midfielder said he spent the first seven years of his life in Saudi Arabia and regularly played football with friends, an experience that sparked his love for the game.
After returning to Kenya, Bajaber joined Ligi Ndogo at the age of nine before continuing at Premier Academy. His talent soon caught the attention of coaches, leading to a move to Star Field Academy.

During this period, he also earned the opportunity to attend trials with Danish club FC Midtjylland, gaining exposure to European football while still a teenager.
“I came back to Kenya and joined Ligi Ndogo when I was nine. I played for my school Premier Academy and there is a great coach who started Star Field Academy and took me there. I played there for two years before I went to Nairobi City Stars. In between, I had a trial in Denmark,” said Bajaber.
His father, Omar Ali Bajaber, was also a footballer and featured for coastal club Black Panther during the 1979 Football Kenya League season.
His performances at Star Field Academy earned him a move to Nairobi City Stars in February 2022. The switch marked his first breakthrough in senior football and provided a platform to showcase his talent in the FKF Premier League.
After his strong form at City Stars, Bajaber joined Kenya Police FC. With his capability to play as an attacking midfielder, winger, or forward, he established himself as one of the most creative players in the league.
Mohamed helped the club secure the 2024/25 FKF Premier League title with five FKF Premier League goals and three goals in the Mozzart Bet Cup.

International Call and Injuries
In March 2025, Bajaber earned his senior debut for Harambee Stars and scored against The Gambia in a 3-3 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
In June 2026, Bajaber scored twice as Kenya recorded a 4-0 friendly victory over Lesotho.
Bajaber signed for Tanzania’s Simba SC in August 2025. He made his debut for Simba in December 2025, scoring in a 3-0 victory over Mbeya City. In July 2026, Bajaber and Simba SC mutually agreed to terminate his contract following an injury-plagued spell.
Since leaving the Tanzanian club, the midfielder has remained without a club and plays for Harambee Stars alone. In the qualifier against Eritrea, he came on and played 25 minutes. He created danger in attack, including two crosses, and completed 12 of 13 passes.
