Kenyans on social media have criticized the actions of a football fan who kicked a female police officer during a match on Sunday, February 2. The incident occurred during a National Super League (NSL) match between Nairobi United and Migori Youth at the M-Pesa Foundation Academy in Thika, Kiambu County.
The match was disrupted when a Migori Youth fan stormed the field after his team conceded the second goal.
In footage seen by The Kenya Times, the man is seen running toward the referee before attacking him.
Migori Youth’s captain, other players, match officials, and fans tried to calm him down before three police officers intervened.
The officers managed to separate the fan from the referee. Two male officers walked the fan to one side of the pitch, while the female officer escorted the referee to the opposite side.
However, the fan broke free, ran toward the female officer, and kicked her to the ground.
He then attempted to attack the referee again but was stopped by two fans and the other two officers.
The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with many Kenyans calling for the fan’s arrest.
Calls for Arrest of the Migori Youth Fan
Sports journalist Fred Arocho condemned the act, questioning why the fan was allowed to walk free after disrupting the match and assaulting a police officer.
“How does a fan invade the pitch, assault a policewoman in an NSL match, and walk away free? This guy should be in jail,” Arocho said.

Kenyans question Why Police Tolerated the Fan
An X user, ‘Campaign Against Illicit Trade & Fake Products’, questioned why the other police officers were lenient toward the fan.
The user urged investigative agencies and football authorities to take action against him.
“Why were the police so cosy with the Migori Youth fan as he assaulted a referee and a policewoman? FKF President, FKF, and DCI should punish this fan,” the user stated.
