Billionaire Sir Richard Branson’s ultra-luxury safari camp, Finch Hattons, has invited guests for a new immersive hiking experience, promising more than just a walk in the wild.
If you have ever dreamed of watching the sun rise over Mount Kilimanjaro with a steaming cup of coffee in hand and giraffes in the distance, Finch Hattons is making the dream a reality.
The Virgin Limited safari camp located in Tsavo West National Park has unveiled a new lineup of immersive walking safaris. The experience is part of a $1,980 (Ksh255,816) per-night stay that begins at 4:00 AM.
Guests set off on a guided hike through the rolling hills of Chyulu, surrounded by the stillness of wilderness.
As dawn breaks, the hikers reach a secluded viewpoint above the Chyulu cloud forest, where they watch as the sun slowly rises behind the silhouette of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Below, the guests enjoy the breathtaking view of the vast Tsavo landscape coming to life with sightings of buffalo, giraffes, and even the occasional leopard.
While enjoying the view, Finch Hattons treats the guests to a light, open-air breakfast in the wild.

The Finch Hattons Five Signature Walking Routes
Sitting on 35 acres of pure, unfenced wilderness, the luxury camp has introduced five signature walking routes that invite guests to explore the region’s rich biodiversity in nature.
The hikes offer a slower, more intimate encounter with the wild, far from the confines of a safari vehicle.
The Bush Walk is guided by a professional tracker and a Kenya Wildlife Service ranger, giving guests a close-up look at Tsavo’s unique ecosystems.
Additionally, visitors learn basic tracking techniques, discover traditional medicinal plants, and witness wildlife in their natural habitat while being immersed in the sights, sounds, and scents of the savannah.
For nature lovers, the Chyulu Rainforest Hike is a magical journey through moss-covered trees and orchid-lined paths. It is a rare opportunity to explore one of Kenya’s most pristine forests.
On the other hand, those looking for a physical challenge can tackle the Ol Doinyo Ololarami Hike, which involves ascending a dormant volcano.
However, families and more relaxed guests can enjoy the Camp Safari Walk, a slower-paced exploration of the camp’s surroundings that focuses on birdlife, insects, animal tracks, and the untold stories of the wild.
Each experience is led by expert guides who are from the local area and bring deep, generational knowledge of the region’s wildlife and culture.
