If the Great Wildebeest Migration is on your bucket list, Sir Richard Branson has just given you the ultimate VIP ticket.

Virgin Limited Edition’s Mahali Mzuri, Swahili for “beautiful place,” nestled deep in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, has officially reopened, and it’s bolder, sleeker, and even more environmentally friendly and sustainable.

After its first-ever full interior redesign, the luxury tented safari camp is now a stunning fusion of modern comfort, local artistry, and eco-conscious design.

Recently reopened after its first full interior refresh since launching in 2013, Mahali Mzuri is inviting guests to rediscover the magic of the African savannah.

Details of Mahali Mzuri Suites

Each of Mahali Mzuri’s 12 tented suites now features floor-to-ceiling glass windows, giving guests a cinematic view of the wildlife-filled valley below.

Guests can enjoy views of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, lions, and all. With freestanding bathtubs overlooking the plains, private viewing decks, king-size beds, and locally crafted furnishings with intricate Maasai beadwork curated by local nonprofit The Maa Trust.

Moreover, the suites are designed in collaboration with Lynne Hunt London and crafted by top Kenyan artisans like Siafu, Matbronze, and Nishit & Co. The new aesthetic is a celebration of East African creativity.

There is even a curated collection of artwork from Theresa Musoke and Dickens Otieno, thanks to Nairobi’s Circle Art Gallery.

Activities Tourists Can Enjoy at the Sir Richard Branson Suites

Beyond twice-daily game drives and hot air balloon safaris, guests can take bush walks with Maasai warriors or visit the Inua Jamii community projects supported by the camp, or volunteer at the local school built and funded by Mahali Mzuri’s charitable arm.

Also, the camp employs over 80% of its staff from surrounding communities, ensuring tourism benefits local families.

Staff uniforms, crafted by iconic Kenyan fashion house Kikoromeo, use sustainable, locally sourced, biodegradable materials. The camp also has a solar farm, rainwater harvesting, and an organic greenhouse.

Aside from the private tent, guests can unwind at the infinity pool, now accented with bold red and black cabanas, inspired by traditional Maasai attire.

The newly revamped firepit area remains a favourite spot for storytelling, stargazing, or simply sipping sundowners while lions roar in the distance.

The Price Tag

Rates start at Ksh399,745 ($3,100) per tented suite per night, covering all meals, drinks, airport transfers, game drives, laundry, and even yoga mats.

However, there is a 20% discount on three-night stays in June and July 2025, just in time for the height of the wildebeest migration season.
