The Government of Mauritius has announced fifteen (15) scholarship opportunities for Kenyan students pursuing Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees for the 2025/2026 academic year.
In a notice on Tuesday, November 25, the Ministry of Education in Kenya stated that the scholarship will cover tuition fees and provide support toward the living expenses of successful candidates during their studies in Mauritius.
Additionally, it will also include a return air ticket on the most economical route, valid for travel from the candidate’s home country at the start of the programme and back upon successful completion of the studies.
“The Government of Mauritius is offering Fifteen (15) scholarships for Undergraduate, Masters and Doc-toral Degree programmes for Kenyans for the aca-demic year 2025/2026,” read part of the notice.
The duration of study is as follows;
- Undergraduate Diploma Three (3) years
- Undergraduate Degree Four (4) years
- MPhil Two (2) years + 6 months for thesis defence
- MPhil / PhD Three (3) years + 6 months for approval of transfer report and One (1) year + 6 months for thesis defence
- PhD Three (3) years + 6 months for thesis defence
The deadline for submitting applications is February 23, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Eligibility Criteria for Mauritius Scholarships
The following are the eligibility requirements and criteria for applicants seeking to apply:
Undergraduate Applicants
- Must have a minimum KCSE mean grade of B (plain).
- Must be 25 years of age or younger.
- Must have strong grades in key subjects related to the chosen programme of study.
- Must have completed secondary education within the last three (3) years.
- Must possess an original KCSE certificate.
Postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) Applicants
- Must have completed at least two (2) years of continuous public or private service since their last degree.
- For master’s studies, must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least Upper Second Class Honours.
- For PhD studies, must have a relevant master’s degree.
- Must be 35 years or younger for master’s programmes, and not more than 40 years for PhD programmes.

How to Apply
All eligible candidates must carefully follow the guidelines below:
1.Submit Online Application
Applicants must first complete the official electronic application form available at
the Mauritius Ministry of Education portal before printing it out.
2.Obtain Standard Application Forms
Standard application forms can be collected from the Ministry of Education, Kenya, at Telposta Towers, 27th Floor, Room 2702, or downloaded from the Ministry’s website.
3.Prepare and Submit Required Documents
Applicants must submit two (2) completed copies of the online application form, along with:
- Certified photocopies of their birth certificate and national ID
- Certified academic and professional certificates
- Academic transcripts
- Proof of application for admission to a public Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Mauritius
- Any other relevant testimonials

4. Deadline
All application documents must reach the Ministry no later than 23rd February 2026.
5 .Shortlisting
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email or phone and invited for an interview.
Applicants should note that all scholarship applications must be submitted through the Nominating Agency in their country of origin, and not directly to Mauritius by the applicant.
The Nominating Agency, the Ministry of Education in Kenya, will review, shortlist, and nominate suitable candidates for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, clearly indicating the level of study for each nominee.
Once the shortlist is finalized, the Nominating Agency or the Ministry of Education will forward the officially endorsed applications to the Mauritian authorities.
Applications submitted without the endorsement of the Nominating Agency, or in its absence the Ministry of Education, will not be considered.

Applicants must ensure the following documents are included in their submission:
- Completed Application Form
- Certified copy of Birth Certificate
- Certified copy of the biodata page of the passport
- Certified copies of educational certificates
- Certified copies of academic transcripts
- Medical Certificate duly completed, stamped, and signed by a registered medical practitioner.
