Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Rebecca Miano has announced free entry to National Parks on September 27, 2025.
In a statement dated Tuesday, September 23, 2025, CS Miano stated that the decision was made to honor World Tourism Day.
“The United Nations World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on 27th September, and this year’s theme. “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation” reminds us of the power of tourism to drive positive change for communities, conservation, and the economy.
To honor this significant occasion, I am thrilled to announce that the Government of Kenya is offering free entry to all Kenyan citizens to visit Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)-managed national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries on Saturday, September 27th, 2025,” read part of the statement.
Miano Announces Free Entry to National Parks
Additionally, the Tourism CS stated that the initiative made by the government will allow citizens to access parks and reserves across the country while highlighting the role of tourism in conservation and the economy.
“This initiative is an opportunity for every Kenyan to reconnect with our breathtaking wildlife heritage, deepen our collective commitment to conservation, and experience the unparalleled beauty of our natural treasures,” added the CS.
The Tourism CS further called on all Kenyans to take advantage of the free entry day to visit the parks and reserves.
“Let’s come together as a nation to celebrate the 2025 UN World Tourism Day and reaffirm our commitment to sustainable tourism and conservation,” said the CS.

For guidelines on free entry, Miano urged Kenyans to visit the KWS website at www.kws.go.ke, follow their official social media platforms, or call the KWS toll-free number 0800 597000.

About World Tourism Day
The declaration of park fees was also made on September 28, 2024, when the Kenyan government, under President William Ruto, approved free entry for Kenyan citizens to all Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)-managed national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries (23 parks, 28 reserves, and 4 sanctuaries) to mark World Tourism Day. The Cabinet decision, announced by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, was tied to the theme “Tourism and Peace” and a national wildlife census.
World Tourism Day is an annual global observance that takes place on September 27.
