The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has announced that several regions across the country will continue to receive rainfall starting Friday, April 11, 2025. In its five-day weather forecast for the period between April 11 and Tuesday, April 15, Kenya Met indicated that rainfall is expected to persist over several parts of the country.
However, according to the Kenya Met, isolated heavy rainfall events are expected in some parts of the country.

These include the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-Eastern Lowlands, the Coast, North-Western, and North-Eastern Kenya.
The weatherman has predicted increased rainfall activity in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.

Counties in these regions include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
These areas are expected to receive rain in some places in the morning, with showers and thunderstorms occurring in several places, particularly in the afternoon.

Showers are also expected in several places during the night.
Kenya Met Lists Regions to Receive Isolated Heavy Rainfall in 5-Day Forecast
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, will also receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms throughout the five-day period, mostly in the afternoon.
Other affected counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka.
At the same time, the weatherman forecasted that the Northeastern region comprising Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties will receive showers and thunderstorms in a few places throughout the forecast period.

Similarly, the Northwestern region, which includes Turkana and Samburu counties will see afternoon showers and thunderstorms in several places, as well as night showers in several locations.
The Southeastern Lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, along with the inland parts of Tana River County, are also expected to receive heavy rains over the next five days.
According to Kenya Met, the coastal counties Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale along with the coastal parts of Tana River, will experience showers in several places or a chance of showers in multiple areas.
Temperatures Forecast
In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Kenya Meteorological Department has cautioned that temperatures will vary significantly, with minimum temperatures dropping to 10°C and maximum daytime temperatures reaching up to 28°C.
Meanwhile, maximum temperatures in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley are expected to reach around 28°C, while the minimum temperatures will range between 9°C and 11°C.
Along the coastal counties, daytime temperatures are forecasted to rise to 33°C, while nighttime temperatures could drop to 15°C for the last four days of the forecast.

In the South-Eastern Lowlands, daytime temperatures are expected to reach 35°C, while nighttime lows will remain constant at 15°C throughout the entire five-day period.
Nighttime temperatures in the Northeastern area will range between 18°C and 19°C, while daytime temperatures will be between 37°C and 38°C.
The temperatures in this region for the first three days of the forecast will remain constant at 19°C for nighttime and 38°C for daytime.
For the last two days, the temperature will drop to 18°C for the minimum and 37°C for the maximum.
The Northwestern region will have nighttime temperatures of 11°C for the first three days of the forecast, with the second last day dropping to 10°C.
Daytime temperatures will range between 36°C for the first two days and 37°C for the last three days.
