The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has in its 7-day forecast from May 14 to May 20 indicated that several parts of the country will experience rainfall with Isolated heavy rainfall events. Kenya Met also warned of cold nights in the coming days.
In the forecast, the weatherman noted that the areas include the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, and the Rift Valley, Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin.
Areas within these regions include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu and Homabay counties
Additionally, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West-Pokot Counties will also experience rainfall with Isolated heavy rainfall events.

“Rainfall is expected to continue over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley. Isolated heavy rainfall events may occur over some parts of these regions.
“Sunny intervals are expected in the morning though light rains may occur over few places. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over few places. Nights are likely to be partly cloudy but occasional showers may occur over few places,” noted Kenya Met.

Kenya Met Issues Forecast for Nairobi
However, other regions across the country are likely to have dry and sunny conditions including Nairobi County which is part of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley
Counties including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi are expected to have cloudy mornings breaking into sunny intervals.
Occasional afternoon and night showers are also expected in these regions.
North-western Kenya regions including Turkana and Samburu Counties are expected to experience sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
At the same time areas within the North-eastern Kenya region including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties will experience sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

Weather in Coast for the Week
The Coastal regions including Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties will experience sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
However, occasional morning and afternoon showers may occur over few places.
Also, the South-eastern lowland regions including Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties will experience sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
“Low average night-time (minimum) temperatures, dropping below 10°C, are likely over some parts of the Central Highlands,” said KMD.
