The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted continued rain and isolated thunderstorms across various regions of the country, including Nairobi, from Monday, 12th May to Wednesday, 14th May 2025.
In its latest five-day weather forecast, some areas are expected to experience sunny intervals in the mornings, followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms, especially in the Rift Valley and highland regions.
Further, counties within the Western, Rift Valley, and Lake Victoria Basin, like Kisumu, Kakamega, Kericho, and Bomet, will experience showers and thunderstorms over several places in the afternoon on all three days.
However, the counties will experience sunny intervals in the mornings on Monday and Wednesday. Night-time showers will continue across a few areas throughout the forecast period.
Daytime temperatures are expected to range around 28°C.

Rain Expected in Several Other Counties
At the same time, North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu) is forecast to have a chance of rains and showers over a few places in the mornings and afternoons, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Maximum temperatures will remain high, peaking at 36°C, while minimums will drop to as low as 9°C by Tuesday.
On the other hand, Central Highlands and Nairobi Area Counties, including Nyeri, Kiambu, Murang’a, and Nairobi, are likely to experience morning rains and afternoon thunderstorms over several places during the entire period.
The skies will remain cloudy with sunny intervals breaking through by Wednesday. Maximum temperatures will hover around 26°C–27°C, while minimums may dip to 10°C.
Residents in the North-eastern Region (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo) can expect partly sunny mornings with occasional rains over a few places, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, Afternoon conditions are expected to be mostly sunny, with a chance of isolated showers.
South-eastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River Counties, will experience rains over a few places in the morning, afternoon and evenings.
Areas within the Coast region, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as coastal parts of Tana River County, will experience showers in a few places.
