Kenyans should prepare for a mix of rainfall, chilly mornings, and cool daytime temperatures over the next five days, as the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) forecasts changing weather conditions in several parts of the country.
In its latest five-day forecast covering July 12 to July 16, Kenya Met said rainfall is expected in several counties, while intermittent cool and cloudy conditions will prevail in parts of the Central Highlands, Rift Valley and Nairobi.
According to the forecast issued on Friday, Nairobi, Makueni, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Baringo, Narok and Kajiado are among the counties expected to experience periods of cool and cloudy weather during the forecast period.
“Rainfall is expected in several counties. Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected in some parts of Makueni, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Baringo, Narok, Kajiado and Nairobi counties,” Kenya Met said.
Kenya Met Predicts Rain in Several Counties
Kenya Met said residents in parts of the Coast region should expect generally sunny intervals during the day, with light showers likely in some areas at night.
Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi are forecast to receive light showers on Tuesday night, while Kwale could also experience light showers on Wednesday morning.
In Eastern Kenya, Embu is expected to receive light rain on Wednesday morning and light showers on Tuesday night. Kirinyaga is also likely to experience light showers on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Further west, Busia is forecast to receive light rain on Thursday morning, while Homa Bay could experience light showers on Tuesday night.
Afternoon showers are also expected in parts of Nandi, Kericho, Kakamega, Bungoma, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira and Siaya, mainly between Sunday and Tuesday.

Nairobi Among Counties to Experience Cold Weather
According to the forecast, Nairobi residents should brace for cool mornings throughout the week, with nighttime temperatures expected to drop to 10 degrees Celsius on Monday night.
It will then rise slightly to 13 degrees Celsius later in the week.
Daytime temperatures in the capital are expected to range from 24°C to 26°C, with sunny intervals dominating most afternoons, despite cloudy mornings on Wednesday and Thursday.
The weatherman also forecasts intermittent cloudy conditions in Kiambu, Nyeri and Murang’a, particularly during the morning hours.
Highlands to Record Lowest Temperatures as Northern Kenya Remain Hot
Nyandarua is expected to record the coldest temperatures in the country, with minimum temperatures falling to 5°C on Sunday and Tuesday mornings.
Other counties expected to experience chilly conditions include Uasin Gishu, Laikipia, Narok, Samburu, and Trans Nzoia, where minimum temperatures will range from 7°C to 12°C.
While parts of the country experience cool weather, northern Kenya is expected to remain hot and largely dry.
Mandera is forecast to record the highest temperatures over the five-day period, with daytime highs reaching 37°C on Tuesday.
Wajir, Garissa, and Turkana are also expected to experience hot conditions, with maximum temperatures ranging from 31°C to 36°C.

Coast to Remain Warm
The Coast region will continue experiencing warm weather despite isolated rainfall.
Daytime temperatures are expected to range from 27°C to 32°C in Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu, Tana River, and Taita Taveta, while nighttime temperatures will remain between 19°C and 25°C.
The Kenya Meteorological Department advised members of the public to continue tracking official weather updates, as conditions may vary across regions.
The latest forecast comes as the country continues to experience the cool July season, with intermittent rainfall expected in several counties even as hot conditions persist in northern Kenya.
