Iran has reported major attacks targeting key national infrastructure, with a historic medical research hub among the facilities severely damaged.
Iran’s Health Ministry has confirmed that an attack targeted the Pasteur Institute of Iran in Tehran, a medical research center established in 1920, causing severe damage to the facility.
Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour, in a post on April 2, described the institute as a key pillar of global health, noting its role within the International Pasteur Network.
“The aggression against the Pasteur Institute of Iran, a century-old pillar of global health & member of the International Pasteur Network, is a direct assault on international health security,” he said.
Attack on Century-Old Medical Institution Raises Global Health Concerns
According to the images Kermanpour shared from the scene, extensive destruction is evident, with parts of the building reduced to rubble following the attack.
He termed the incident a direct assault on international health security, raising concerns over the safety of critical medical infrastructure.
Further, he stated that the attack violates the Geneva Conventions and principles of international humanitarian law.
Iran has called on global bodies, including the World Health Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to condemn the incident, assess the damage, and support reconstruction efforts.

“This violates the Geneva Conventions & IHL principles. We call on @WHO, @ICRC & global health bodies to condemn this attack, assess damages & support reconstruction,” he noted.
Israeli Military Reports Large-Scale Attacks on IRGC Targets
The Israeli military has reported carrying out a large-scale wave of attacks targeting Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) infrastructure in Iran’s capital.
According to a military statement in a post on April 2, the strikes included an IRGC ground forces base and a mobile headquarters believed to be hosting commanders.
A ballistic missile storage facility in Tabriz was also among the sites targeted during the operation.
The military stated that since the start of the conflict, Israeli forces have hit hundreds of IRGC and other military sites across Iran.

Trump Threatens to Hit Hard On Iran
President Donald Trump on Wednesday, April 1, said the U.S. is getting “very close” to finishing its objectives in Iran but warned that the next two weeks will involve intense military activity.
“We are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly, very shortly,” the president said in his first primetime address since the war in Iran began. “We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks.”
The president also called on countries that rely on oil shipped through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has effectively blocked, to help ensure the strait reopens.
