The U.S. Embassy in Uganda has cautioned visa applicants against submitting fraudulent documents.
In a statement on January 4, the U.S. Embassy said that submitting fraudulent documents constitutes visa fraud, could jeopardize future travel opportunities, and may result in a permanent travel ban.
Additionally, the U.S. Embassy said it stays one step ahead of document vendors and adapts to emerging threats.
“If you submit fake documents with your U.S. visa application, you are committing fraud and risking your future. We stay one step ahead of document vendors, and we adapt to emerging threats. Protect your future travel opportunities – tell the truth and do not provide fake documents,” read part of the statement.
Anti-Fraud Tips for Us Applicants In Uganda
Entering fake information or submitting fake documents may disqualify your entry or even keep you from ever going to the United States.
If at all possible, applicants are advised to fill out the visa application form themselves.
In case you need help, make sure the person helping you is entering your true information.
Additionally, avoid visa consultants who offer to improve your chances by adding false information to your application.

The U.S. Department of State, Office of Visa Services warned that visa consultants who charge fees claiming to improve applicants’ chances of success are misleading.
The department stressed that it does not work with such consultants and that they cannot increase anyone’s likelihood of being selected.

How the U.S. Embassy Expects You to Fill Visa Application Form
When entering your details, use your own e-mail address and make sure you keep the entry confirmation number.
You will need the entry confirmation number to check the results to see if you have been selected.
If someone is helping you to apply, make sure they give you the entry confirmation number.
You can set up a free email account on a computer or smartphone if you don’t have one.
Only submit one entry per eligible person. If you have entered more than once, you will be disqualified.
Applicants are advised to ensure their photos were taken within the last six months. Photos older than six months will be disqualified.
If you are selected to apply for a visa, do not add any person who is not legally your spouse or child to your visa application.
Doing so may disqualify you and may keep you from ever going to the United States.
Further, if you are selected and have been pressured by a visa consultant to add people to your application who are not your legal family members, immediately inform the Consular Officer at your interview.
