The United Kingdom (UK) has hastily reacted to reports on Iran having the capability to hit the capital city, London. The Iranian attack on the joint military base in the UK resulted in the UK deploying the HMS Anson with Tomahawk Block IV land-attack missiles.
Iran reportedly launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles targeting Diego Garcia, a joint U.S.-UK military base.
Iran’s attack on the U.S.-UK military base, which is approximately 4,000 kilometers away in the middle of the Indian Ocean, proved that the missiles from Iran could reach far beyond the Middle East.
“Iran just proved its missiles can reach far beyond the Middle East. Iran fired two intermediate-range ballistic missiles at Diego Garcia, a joint U.S.-UK military base sitting 4,000 kilometers away in the middle of the Indian Ocean,” read a statement from Mario Nawfal.
According to the statement, the base was not hit; the Iranians used the missiles to send a message to the UK, and Tehran has publicly claimed that its missile range tops at 2,000 km. One missile reportedly failed in flight, while a US warship intercepted the other.
The Khorramshahr- 4 is alleged to have been used in the missile attack on the joint U.S.-UK military base. Khorramshahr-4 also delivered cluster warheads used in Israel attacks for three weeks.
NATO states are now concerned that the war that was initially a Middle Eastern conflict could now affect the member states, according to Mario Nawfal.
Piers Morgan has expressed the concern about Iran’s ballistic missile range capacity. He has cited that Iran could launch missile attacks on the UK, and the UK has no defense against the attacks.

UK Response to Iran Missile Attacks
According to the reports by the Daily Mail, the UK Navy nuclear sub has been strategically positioned in the Iran strike range. The UK missiles have a range of 1,609 km, and Spearfish heavyweight torpedoes are taking up position in the northern Arabian Sea.
HMS Anson is a 318-foot Astute-class attack submarine that departed Perth on March 6.
UK Defense Ministry declined to confirm the submarine’s location, with a spokesperson saying the government would not provide details on specific operations or deployments.
US on UK Bases
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer had agreed to allow the US to use British bases to launch strikes on Iranian sites targeting the Strait of Hormuz.
UK bases used by the US have been RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire and Diego Garcia, part of the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean.
According to the prime minister, Iran’s attacks were a danger to the safety of the UK residents, and that is the reason the US has been allowed to use two of the British military bases.
“We have taken the decision to accept this request – to prevent Iran firing missiles across the region … killing innocent civilians … putting British lives at risk … and hitting countries that have not been involved,” Keir Starmer stated.

US President Donald Trump has issued a threat to Iran if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened in 48 hours amid the ongoing tension.
In a statement shared on his social media, the president stated that the United States will strike and destroy various power plants in Iran if the Iranians do not take any action.
