Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has hinted at plans to offer assistance to countries in the Middle East struggling with Iranian drone and missile strikes.
Speaking in a phone conversation with the United Arab Emirates President, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the situation in the Middle East, Zelenskyy expressed condolences for those killed in Iran’s recent strikes and discussed ways to support the protection of lives.
In a message posted on X, Zelenskyy said their conversation focused on key regional developments and shared priorities, emphasizing that teams from both countries will work together on measures to safeguard people affected by the ongoing attacks.

Zelenskyy condoled with the president on what he described as Iran’s insane attack. The two leaders agreed that Ukraine will offer support in protecting the lives of civilians.
“We discussed how we can help in this situation and support the protection of lives. It was agreed that our teams will work on this. Protecting lives is a shared priority for everyone in the world,” stated Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy Offers Drone Interceptors in Exchange of Truce
Earlier on February 2, Zelensky, speaking to Bloomberg, reported on a phone call, offered to send his best experts in shooting down Iranian drones in the Middle East if Gulf region leaders convince Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a long-term truce in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Since Russia’s full invasion of Ukraine, Moscow has been using Iran-made Shaheds in attacking Kyiv, allowing Ukraine to develop experience in intercepting drones, which are now used against countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.
“I would suggest the following: Middle Eastern leaders have excellent relations with the Russians. They can ask the Russians to implement a month-long ceasefire.”
According to Zelensky, Kyiv will deliberate on the option of sending its best men to intercept the drones in the Middle East.
“Once a truce is reached, we will send our best drone interceptor operators to the Middle Eastern countries. A ceasefire could also be announced for two months or two weeks, “so that we can help Middle Eastern countries protect civilians.”

Operation Epic Fury
The US and Israel have maintained that the Operation Epic Fury is aimed at crippling Iran’s ability to produce nuclear material and develop long-range delivery systems.
The operation began with a series of coordinated air and missile strikes by U.S. and Israeli forces against Iranian nuclear, military, and missile infrastructures.
So far, the attacks have led to the killing of several Iranian officials, including Ali Khamenei, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Mohammad Pakpour, and security adviser Ali Shamkhani.
Iran responded with waves of ballistic missiles and drones targeting U.S. and allied military positions across the Middle East, including bases in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait.
