Super Metro Limited has addressed an incident where one of its buses was burnt between Juja Town and Juja City Mall along the Thika Superhighway on September 1, 2025.
In a statement, the Sacco confirmed that the bus, registration number KCZ358N, was burnt while travelling downhill at Juja.
Super Metro Limited said a tuk-tuk ahead of the bus attempted to change lanes, prompting a motorbike rider, who was overtaking at high speed, to swerve in an effort to avoid a collision.
Unfortunately, the rider struck a pavement, fell, and was fatally injured by the bus. The rider passed away at the scene.
Super Metro said the matter is currently under investigation by Juja Police Station, and it is fully cooperating with the authorities to ensure a thorough and transparent inquiry.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time. Super Metro remains committed to adhering to all regulatory requirements and supporting the ongoing investigation.
Preliminary reports indicate that the bus was set ablaze in Juja after it fatally knocked dead a bodaboda rider.
The incident happened on the afternoon of Monday, September 1.
Footages seen by The Kenya Times show that the bus was burnt beyond repair.
There was a group of onlookers as the bus burned down.
It remains unclear whether there were passengers aboard the bus at the time of the incident.
The incident caused a huge traffic buildup from Burudani area towards Juja Town.
