Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has issued an urgent notice to customers about a water supply interruption affecting 11 estates.
In a statement on Saturday, August 16, Nairobi Water Managing Director Nahashon Muguna said the disruption will also impact Kenyatta National Hospital and Nairobi Hospital.
Muguna explained that the outage is caused by technical issues along the Kabete–Kibera–Lang’ata water supply pipeline.
Dear Valued Customers, due to technical challenges along the Kabete Kibera Lang’ata water supply pipeline, water distribution is currently affected in the following areas.
Some affected estates include Lang’ata, Kibera, Kilimani, Lavington, Westlands, and Parklands.
The outage will also impact all estates along Ngong Road and Langata Road.
Estates along Raila Odinga Road, including Mandaraka, Nyayo Highrise, Nairobi West, and Dam, will also experience water supply disruptions.
Additionally, Muguna stated that the water outage will affect the University of Nairobi (UoN) main and Chiromo campuses.
The Riverside and Kileleshwa areas will also face water supply disruptions.
Advice to Residents in Affects Estates & Institutions
Muguna assured residents of the affected areas that efforts are underway to resolve the technical issues.
However, the Company has advised customers to conserve water during this period.
Muguna said Nairobi Water has also deployed water tankers to all affected areas and institutions to supply free water.
Our technical staff are working round the clock to resolve the problem. We advise our customers to use their stored water sparingly. In the meantime, we have dispatched our water tankers to the affected estates for residents to draw water free of charge. We respectfully request patience as we work to restore water supply.
