East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has announced leadership changes. In a notice dated Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the company’s board introduced several new appointments across various roles.
One of the key appointments is Richard Etemesi, a seasoned banker with extensive experience.
Etemesi has been appointed to the board of Kenya Breweries Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of EABL, effective July 30, 2025.
“The Board of Directors of East African Breweries PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Etemesi to the Board of its fully owned subsidiary, Kenya Breweries Limited, with effect from July 30, 2025,” the notice stated.
EABL Announces Various Appointments
Richard Etemesi brings nearly 30 years of corporate and commercial banking experience, having held various senior roles within the Standard Chartered Bank Group in Africa, Europe, and Asia.
His previous positions include serving as the Chief Executive Officer for Kenya and East Africa, as well as for South and Southern Africa.
Additionally, he has served as a non-executive director for several subsidiaries of the Standard Chartered Bank Group.
Richard holds a Master of Science degree in Finance from Strathclyde Business School.

The board also announced the appointment of Hina Nagarajan as an Executive Director at EABL, effective August 4, 2025.
Nagarajan is currently the President of Diageo Africa, overseeing the company’s operations across the continent. She also holds a position as a Non-Executive Director on the board of BP Pic.
Since joining Diageo, she has held significant leadership roles, including Managing Director and CEO of Diageo India and Managing Director for Africa Regional Markets.
Prior to joining Diageo, Nagarajan had executive roles at Reckitt Benckiser, where she served as Managing Director for China and Senior Vice President for North Asia, as well as General Manager for Malaysia and Singapore.
She also served as CEO and Managing Director of Mary Kay India and held various earlier positions with ICI Points and Nesta India.
Her career spans general management, marketing, and leadership in both developed and emerging markets.
The Company Announces Resignation of Sathish Krishnan as a Director
Additionally, the board appointed Andrew Ross as a Non-Executive Director, effective August 4, 2025.
Ross brings over 28 years of executive leadership experience in the African beverage sector.
He currently serves as General Manager for Diageo Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean, managing operations across 12 countries.
His career has included senior roles at both Diageo and SABMiller, where he has developed a strong track record in driving growth and performance in diverse and complex markets.
Ross has expertise in finance, commercial operations, and strategic management. He holds an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.

In addition to these appointments, the company announced the resignation of Sathish Krishnan as a Director, effective August 4, 2025.
Krishnan had served on the board since July 27, 2023.
The board expressed its gratitude to Krishnan for his contributions to both the Board and its Investment Committee, as well as the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
“The Board takes this opportunity to thank Mr. Krishnan for his exemplary commitment to consumers and the community,” the EABL Board stated.
