Activist Kasmuel McOure, also known as Kaskazini presented seven demands to President William Ruto on July 25 on behalf of the Gen Z, following the arrest of Boniface Mwangi.
Police arrested Boniface Mwangi and Hussein Khalid during anti-government protests in Nairobi’s CBD.
The two were leading a group of protesters who intended to deliver a petition to the Office of the President, addressing the deaths of Gen Z protesters.
Prior to his arrest, Mwangi had called on the youth to gather on Kimathi Street at 11 am on July 25 to mourn those killed in previous protests.
“See you on Kimathi Street at 11am. Let’s escort the families of our heroes to the crime scene to lay flowers. If you see Raila anywhere, record a video calling him a traitor, let that old man spend the rest of his life knowing he betrayed Kenyans for a few coins,” Mwangi said.
Consequently, the Gen Z have demanded that the office of the President issues the report on the state of investigation of 60 Kenyans killed in the recent anti-government protests.
Demands over Boniface Mwangi
Additionally, the movement wants Ruto’s office to immediately confirm and share with the public the official number, names and details of individuals killed in the recent protests.
Also, they want the Ruto to direct all relevant institutions including but not limited to IPOA, IAU, DCI and ODPP to collect evidence in the next seven days of police excesses shared by Kenyans particularly by the Gen z on social media.

Furthermore, Gen Z wants the Head of State to suspend all officers identified on social media for using excessive force, pending the completion of investigations.
Addressing the media after Boniface Mwanig’s arrest, Gen Z also stated that once investigations are complete, the Office of the President should demand the arrest and prosecution of all rogue police officers for the murder and assault of protesters and journalists.
Similarly, Kasmuel said that Gen Z wants the resignation of Officers Commanding Stations (OCSs) in areas where killings were reported.
Lastly, the movement has asked the government to issue stern warnings against any officer found using excessive force in dealing with protests.
Elsewhere, activist Njeri Mwangi said that Gen Zs are fighting for the country, and if they relent now, they will lose it. She further demanded the release of those arrested, including her husband, Boniface Mwangi.

The Movement Rejects Ruto’s Cabinet Nominees
Besides demanding the release of Boniface Mwangi, the Gen Zs also rejected the individuals nominated by the Head of State to serve as Cabinet Secretaries (CSs).
In a statement, the Gen Z said being a CS is an important job and requires competent leaders who can advise the president on how to drive the nation’s agenda.
The statement stated that Gen Zs have been protesting and calling on the government to address varius issues that will lead the nation to the greatness that every Kenyan want.
“Has the president listened? No. He has even gone further in what we can term as an insult to the Kenyan people and nominated the exact same people we refused,” the statement reads in part.
