The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a seven-day weather forecast as October nears its end. In a forecast published on Monday, October 20, Kenya Met highlighted regions expected to receive rainfall during the week.
“Rainfall is likely to increase this week across several parts of the country. Rainfall is expected over the Central Highlands (including Nairobi), the Lake Victoria Basin, Western Kenya, The South-eastern Lowlands, The Rift Valley and North-western Kenya,” said Kenya Met.
The weatherman also stated that isolated heavy rainfall events may occur over some parts of these regions and advised residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
Kenya Met Lists Regions to Experience Rainfall in its 7 Day Weather Forecast
Daytime (maximum) temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coastal, North-eastern, and North-western regions. Night-time (minimum) temperatures below 10°C may occur in parts of the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Regions of the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, including counties like Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok, are likely to experience morning rains in some areas.

During the day, afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected in several places, with night showers occurring occasionally in some areas and spreading to others. Isolated heavy rainfall events may also happen.
For Nairobi and its surrounding counties, including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi, located east of the Rift Valley Highlands, Kenya Met predicted that these areas are expected to have cloudy mornings with occasional rains in some places, giving way to sunny intervals.
Afternoon showers are likely in some areas, while nights may be partly cloudy, with showers in some places, and isolated heavy rainfall may occur.
Forecast for North-Eastern Region
The North-eastern region, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, is expected to have sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy nights. However, morning rains and afternoon or night showers may occur in some areas of Marsabit County.
The South-eastern lowlands, including Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to have sunny days and partly cloudy nights. There is a possibility of morning rains, along with afternoon and night showers in some areas during the latter half of the forecast period.
Coast Region
Counties within the Coast region like Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and the coastal parts of Tana River are also expected to experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy nights, with a chance of morning and afternoon showers in some places.

The north-western Kenya region, including Turkana and Samburu counties, may see morning rains, along with afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms in some few places.
