Fresh details have emerged about the death of city lawyer Mbobu Kyalo, who was shot dead on the evening of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in a drive-by attack near Galleria Mall in Karen, Nairobi.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. along Lang’ata Road or Magadi Road, close to the Galleria-Brookhouse area, while Mbobu was driving home alone in his four-wheel-drive vehicle.

In his message, he indicated that he had discussed an initiative with Eric Kivuva, the Chairman of the LSK Nairobi Branch. He expressed his support for this initiative at South Eastern Kenya University.

It has also been established that at the time of his death, Mbobu was handling several high-profile cases.
Following his killing, several leaders issued statements eulogizing him and demanding justice.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi recalled Mbobu’s contribution as a lecturer, while also urging for speedy investigations.
“I was honoured to be one of his students at the Parklands Campus of the University of Nairobi, where we benefited from his intellectual mentorship. As the country comes to terms with this chilling incident, we expect the police to carry out speedy and thorough investigations to unearth the reason and culprits behind this heinous crime and ensure justice is served,” Kingi stated.

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo also condemned the incident, calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to expedite inquiries and bring those responsible to book.
“We call upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to commence immediate, all-hands-on-deck investigations to identify, locate, apprehend, and prosecute the perpetrators of this crime.
We have recently witnessed how efficacious our investigative agencies can be in undertaking investigations, and we anticipate that equal urgency and professionalism will be applied in concluding this matter. Anything else will be an indictment of the capacity of our security organs to discharge their mandate, and will only add to the growing frustration and skepticism on the state of security in the country,” said Odhiambo.
