The Kenya Red Cross has warned Kenyans of circulating fake job advertisements circulating online.
In a statement on Thursday, the Kenya Red Cross said the fraudulent job offers are circulating on social media targeting unsuspecting individuals.
They have pleaded with Kenyans to be careful when applying for a job, stating that any job opportunity at the Red Cross is always advertised and posted on an official platform or their careers webpage.
“We have noticed an increase in fake job advertisements targeting unsuspecting individuals,’ part of the statement read.
In the statement, the humanitarian society has asked Kenyans to protect themselves by applying only through official channels to avoid falling for scams.
In addition, the society assured that it is an equal opportunity employer, and that it does not request any fees or deposits from job seekers during the selection process or interview invitations.
“Please note that we are an equal opportunity employer and we do not request any fees or deposits from job seekers during the selection process or interview invitations,” Kenya Red Cross added.

To avoid falling into the traps of fraudsters, jobseekers are advised to always verify the adverts by visiting verified communications channels including social media accounts. In addition, fake job adverts often come with glaring typo errors or discrepancies, which jobseekers are asked to be on the lookout for.
For government agencies and institutions, job openings are advertised on recognized mass communication media including national newspapers and their respective websites.
