Kenyan activist and lawyer Morara Kebaso has announced plans to abandon a donated TX Land Cruiser in favour of a more cost-effective diesel vehicle, citing difficulties in raising funds to fuel the car for his activism work.
The decision shared by Morara Kebaso on June 2, 2025, comes amid growing financial constraints, as some Kenyans appear reluctant to contribute to his cause.
Kebaso, a 28-year-old known for exposing stalled government projects initiated by President William Ruto, responded to a follower’s question on X about the whereabouts of “gari yetu” (our car).
“We are changing to a diesel one, which is affordable to fuel without much fundraising,” Morara stated.
The TX Land Cruiser, previously donated to support his nationwide tours to document incomplete public projects, has become a financial burden due to high fuel costs.
In an August 2024 interview on Citizen TV’s JKLive Show, Kebaso revealed that he uses public donations sent via M-Pesa to fuel his vehicle and travel across the country to verify the status of government projects.
Morara blocks his critics on the idea
However, recent responses on X suggest a shift in public sentiment, with some users expressing dissatisfaction about his intentions.
After publicly announcing the idea, an X user, Brensi, among others, referred to it as a project and informed Morara Kebaso that they were aware of his plans.
“A speaking project! We know you, boy,” he said
Angered by this, Kebaso blocked the X users who were against his idea and said they were fake accounts that were used to discourage other citizens and bring negativity.
“We are currently blocking all fake accounts that are being used to discourage, disparage, insult and sink negativity into our dream,” he said.
“Kindly comment below if I have forgotten you.”
Public reactions to Moraras’ idea
A Kenyan advocate, @mawecollins, also replied to Kebaso, terming him a project as he explained that he has recently been associated with Kasamuel and even rallied with him, yet Kasamuel had just shared photos of his happy life in ODM.

“But, sincerely, Morara, you appear as a project here is why recently you associated very well and did rallies with one KaSamuel,” he explained.
“The same Kasamuel today shared photos of his happy life in ODM, the same ODM that supports Ruto, it’s either you are hard to facts, or you are seeing us as fools,” he further added.
Morara Kebaso responds to online criticisms
In response to the advocates’ sentiments, Morara explained that most vocal youths are captured in mainstream political parties for protection.

“Most vocal youth are captured by mainstream political parties. Because they need a platform and protection from assassination, it’s a sad situation.”
“That is why we needed our party. Many like him are trapped in the business of carrying briefcases. But I am hopeful that they will take over the leadership of those parties,” he added.
