Safaricom has announced a scheduled system upgrade on its M-PESA Fuliza platform, set for Monday, November 17, 2025.

In a notice dated Saturday, November 15, 2025, the company stated that the upgrade, which will take place between 00:10 and 02:00 hours, is part of its ongoing efforts to improve services, offering customers safer, more secure, and seamless financial products.

“We are continually improving our platform to enhance our services, connecting you, our customers, with more innovations and an even better experience. To support this and fulfill our promise of always-on, safe, secure, and worry-free financial products and services, we will be conducting a scheduled system upgrade on the Fuliza platform on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 00:10 Hrs to 02:00 Hrs,” said the mobile service provider.

During the maintenance window, Safaricom stated that Fuliza services may experience intermittent availability, while all other M-PESA services will continue to operate as usual.

According to Kenya’s leading telco company, the timing of the upgrade has been carefully planned to minimize inconvenience to users.

Safaricom apologized for any inconvenience that may be caused and thanked customers for their continued support.

Fuliza is an overdraft service for M-PESA customers, offered by Safaricom in partnership with NCBA Bank.

The service allows eligible users to complete transactions even when their account balance is insufficient, providing greater flexibility in managing daily financial needs.

About the Overdraft Facility Integrated with M-PESA

Fuliza is available in two main categories: Fuliza for Individuals and Fuliza ya Biashara for Businesses.

For individual users, the service enables sending money to other M-PESA customers, making payments to merchants through Lipa na M-PESA (including Buy Goods and Paybill transactions), and purchasing airtime for themselves or others. It also enables cash withdrawals from agents.

For businesses, Fuliza ya Biashara allows owners to make payments directly from their business till, including Till-to-Till payments to other business accounts, as well as paying customers or mobile numbers from the business till.

The service also supports utility bill payments through Paybill and enables cash withdrawals at M-PESA agent outlets or to a nominated mobile number.

The upgrade of Fuliza comes a month after the leading telecommunications company upgraded its M-PESA system to Fintech 2.0, a next-generation core platform designed to strengthen resilience, expand capacity, and unlock advanced AI-driven innovations. This upgrade was made necessary due to rising transaction volumes and changing customer behavior.

Safaricom is not fair !! My fuliza limit is 8,100 why can’t they give us 25% addition now that they are celebrating their 25 sijui what which is always favoring one community?? Safaricom could have done better by giving us 25% on products and services instead of this thing like winning 1million what about the 99% who will not win anything and have been using Safaricom for the longest time personally my line has been on for the past 25 years what is Safaricom giving us !! Safaricom be fair to Kenyans how can a 20 year old buy bundles and get 1 million whereas some of us do big Mpesa transactions and cannot even get bundles and you claim to be celebrating 25 years of service …,,, Safaricom is not fair the competition is null and
Void ….. let all your customers at least get something in return for the same!!!????????????????
