Kalonzo Musyoka’s political camp has received a new development after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) ruled on a case involving the registration of Ukombozi Alliance, linked to Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 29, by the Communications Department of the SKM Presidential Secretariat, the SKM Presidential Secretariat said the tribunal lifted earlier orders that suspended the registration process for the Ukombozi Alliance.
“The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT), sitting today, Thursday, October 29, 2026, has discharged its earlier orders suspending the registration process of the Ukombozi Alliance (TUA),” the statement read.
Tribunal Makes Decision on Ukombozi Alliance Registration Case
The case, filed as PPDT/E007/2026, involved Allan Jayuga Akivaga, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties and Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya.
Following the decision, the Registrar of Political Parties may proceed to conclude the Ukombozi Alliance’s registration in accordance with the Political Parties Act and other applicable laws.

“The Registrar of Political Parties is accordingly at liberty to proceed with and conclude the registration of The Ukombozi Alliance in accordance with the Political Parties Act and all other applicable laws.”
The tribunal’s decision removes the earlier orders that had halted the registration process.
Dispute Over Ukombozi Alliance Name
Earlier, on October 13, 2026, PPDT temporarily halted registration and gazettement of Ukombozi Alliance following a dispute over its proposed name.
Following the challenge, the Registrar of Political Parties was barred from approving, registering or gazetting Ukombozi Alliance under the disputed name pending further directions from the tribunal.
The interim orders did not finally determine ownership of the name or the merits of Akivaga’s case.
Ukombozi Alliance is the proposed new identity of the Azimio la Umoja–One Kenya Coalition Party, led by Kalonzo Musyoka. Coalition members agreed to the rebranding on September 21, 2026, as part of preparations for the 2027 General Election.

The rebranding was presented as a reorganisation of the existing Azimio coalition, not the formation of an entirely new political grouping.
Its stated objective was to bring opposition forces together ahead of the next general election.
Kalonzo Musyoka serves as party leader of the Ukombozi Alliance, while Martha Karua is the deputy coalition leader, and Suba South MP Caroli Omondi is the secretary-general.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta resigned as chair of the coalition council effective October 5, 2026.
In a statement issued on October 7, Kalonzo clarified that the council chairperson and party leader are separate positions and that Uhuru’s resignation did not affect his role as party leader.
