Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga will appear before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) on June 5,2022 to be cleared to run for the country’s top seat, the commission has announced.
United Democratic Alliance(UDA) candidate DP William Ruto will appear before the commission on June 4, a day before Mr Odinga.
At the same time IEBC has barred Eleven presidential candidates from contesting in the August 9 polls after they failed to present their running mates by the stipulated deadline.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati says the 11 failed to beat the May 16 deadline when all presidential candidates were required to have submitted the names of their running mates.
IEBC now has 44 presidential aspirants awaiting to be cleared for the August 9 polls
All presidential aspirants are required to present 2,000 signatures from at least 24 counties as pre-nomination requirement by close of business on Monday if they intend to be cleared for the race.
The registration of the candidates to contest for various elective seats, will run from May 29 to June 7.
