The Judiciary has declared false, a viral story circulating on Social Media and published by a number of media houses as false.
In the viral story first published on a satirical news site before streaming into Social Media, the woman is said to have spent money sent to her for busfare to his colleague’s birthday party.
“A Nairobi lady has been ordered by the Milimani Small Claims Courts to pay her boyfriend Ksh23,750 after he sent him Ksh300o to pay for a taxi to attend the man’s birthday party but the lady did not show up and instead switched off her phone,” the false story read in part.
It further stated that the said complainant filed evidence in form of MPESA and WhatsApp text messages against the lady prompting the judge to deliver the ruling.
“The lady was ordered to refund the man Ksh3,000 plus interest of Ksh750 and a further Ksh20,000 in damages for the emotional anguish he went through. The lady was detained awaiting payment of the damages by her family,” the story revealed.
