Deputy President William Ruto now claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta is planning to use Chiefs to manipulate the August 9 elections.
Ruto is accusing Uhuru of sanctioning clandestine meetings “geared at undermining, sabotaging and manipulating the presidential polls’’.
“Mr. President, why are chiefs and other public servants being forced and threatened in secret meetings to undermine, manipulate and sabotage peaceful elections,?he posed.
“What will it benefit you to foment conflict amongst innocent Kenyans? Boss let’s not take the country in this direction,” he added.
On Friday Ruto went bare knuckles at Uhuru and cautioned him against threatening him
He instead asked Uhuru to be grateful for the support he gave him when he was seeking the top job.
“Be a decent human being. Be grateful, we are the ones who helped you, Stop threatening us now respect us, ’he said amid cheers.
Speaking in Kapsabet, Ruto called on police officers to be patriotic and agree not to be used in any election rigging schemes.
At the same time he called on his supporters within the Rift Valley region not to allow themselves to be provoked by state machinations of poll rigging.
Elsewhere, speaking in Busia ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi alleged plots by government to use civil servants in rigging the August 9 elections.
