A middle-aged man is fighting for his life at Busia County Hospital after suffering head injuries after he was attacked by a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer following a dispute over Napier grass
The KDF officer attacked the victim with a panga and inflicted him with injuries on the head.
According to police, James Odoury was cut on the head by Mark Maana a KDF officer after his cow grazed on the officer’s Napier grass.
“The officers established that the cow belonging to Odoury grazed on the Napier grass of the KDF officer who took a panga and cut him on the head before cutting the cow’s hind leg and the tail,” the police report read in part.

The victim was rushed to Khunyangu Sub-County Hospital before being referred to Busia Sub-County Hospital where he is admitted in serious condition.
The suspect has not yet been arrested.
A veterinary officer treated the cow.
Police officers are waiting for the victim to be discharged before he can record a formal statement and obtain a P3 form before further action can be taken
