SewerSydaa, a member of the popular Wakadinali music group has explained the meaning of a controversial lyric in their song dubbed ‘Geri Negi’.
Speaking to Mic Cheque Podcast, SewerSydaa clarified the meaning of the line “hatuitishi ruhusa kuguza” which hit the headlines when the song was released in 2021.
For the last two years, most people have interpreted the line to mean that the rapper did not need any permission to access a woman’s body.
However, the rapper broke down the meaning of the lyric ” Akiwa maduya riomo anacock toy/Hicho kidureg isikufanye uingie kwa soil / Bro na ki durag udungwa ana rock mboi Boy/ Hatuitishi ruhusa kuguza/ Tunaishi nchi rais utundura/ Na ukisnitch juu ya clique unasundwa/ Shokde Lee tunakam kuchunguza….”
According to SewerSydaaa, maduya refers to drugs, riomo means a friend while dureg is used to refer to a phone.
The line “isikufanye uingie kwa soil” means that a phone should not make someone get a beating.
He said “Bro na ki durag ana rock mboi” refers to those wearing durags most of whom are not liked in the streets.
Political Meaning
The rapper clarified that the controversial verse was used to refer to how some politicians take things from Kenyans without asking.
According to him, the lyric directly points at the political landscape in Kenya and not in anyway the body of a woman.
“Hatutishi ruhusa kunguza, hiyo sasa ni politician haitishi permission,” he added.

He also interpreted the meaning of the last part “Na ukisnitch juu ya clique unasundwa/ Shokde Lee tunakam kuchunguza..”
He said “shokde” means tomorrow, therefore if you snitch, they will come and see you at Lee Funeral home the next day.
“Hiyo ndiyo hiyo verse yote, it got nothing to do with women. Ni verse nimetoa mbali,” said SewerSydaa.
This means “That’s the whole verse, it got nothing to do with women. It is a verse written from deep within.”
He also said the Geri Negi song was a statement that they issued to their fans and the country.
According to the artist, Wakadinali gained a new fan based as a result of the Geri Negi song.
