President Donald Trump said on Friday, July 10, that the U.S. military stands ready with 1,000 missiles aimed at Iran and will respond forcefully if Tehran tries to assassinate him.
In posts on Truth Social, Trump laid out a direct threat tied to reports of an Iranian plot, noting that he has already instructed the military to take immediate action should Iran pull off the assassination plot.
Trump Says Military is Ready if Iran Targets Him
“1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!” he wrote.
He added that the military has already assured him of its willingness and readiness to execute his orders.
“Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able, for a one-year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran,” Trump said

The warning follows a report that Israeli intelligence shared information with U.S. officials about Tehran considering a plan to kill the president. Trump has described himself as Iran’s top target for years.
Iran’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei killed in U.S. strikes in late February, issued a message vowing revenge.
He called it the demand of the nation that must happen. Mourners at the elder Khamenei’s funeral carried banners that read “WE WILL KILL TRUMP.”
Trump Cites Long-running Assassination Threats
Trump spoke about the risks earlier in the week at the NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkey, where he told reporters he was Iran’s No. 1 target and said the interim ceasefire with Iran was over after overnight strikes.
In an interview with the New York Post on Friday, he said he left instructions for the military to launch an overwhelming response if anything happened to him.
“I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with,” Trump told the Post. “The only thing is, I’ve left instructions, if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”
He played down the alleged Israeli intelligence as nothing new when he was asked whether the intel triggered him to be more concerned.
“No, no. Israel came up with nothing. No, no,” Trump said. “I’ve been No. 1 [on Iran’s kill list] for a long time, and it’s the way life is, you know.”

Trump left the NATO summit early on the old Air Force One rather than a newer jet that had been a gift from Qatar, a move the media saw as a security concern.
Treasury Announces New Sanctions on Iran
On the same day as Trump’s posts, the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions on an alleged Iranian financier.
The action targeted Ali Ansari, accused of running a network of assets that benefit Mojtaba Khamenei and other regime figures.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the so-called Supreme Leader is hiding while his regime crumbles. The department said it would use every tool to isolate regime elites.
Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called the sanctions a violation of last month’s preliminary deal with the U.S. He said Iran has kept its word while the U.S. has not.

“That violation follows other violations and missteps by the United States. Reality check: There can only be mutual compliance,” Araghchi wrote on X.
The sanctions came after Iran resumed attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Three commercial vessels came under fire, prompting U.S. retaliatory strikes and the withdrawal of a sanctions waiver on Iranian oil sales.
The Strait of Hormuz has been a flashpoint since the war started, after Iran stopped the free passage of tankers and ships, a move that drove up oil prices.
Under the interim deal last month, Iran agreed to safe passage for commercial ships and no tolls for 60 days. The U.S. also lifted its naval blockade and eased some oil sanctions in return.
Fresh talks are expected to resume today in Oman, with Iran’s nuclear ambition as one of the key subjects to be discussed.
