The body of Brian Odhiambo, who went missing in January after he was allegedly abducted by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers, has been found.
His mother has confirmed that his body was retrieved at Lake Nakuru National Park.
“The youths found my son’s body floating in the water on Monday. A game park boat came with officers from the KWS, but they did not assist the fishermen,” ” read the statement.
According to Brian Odhiambo’s mother, when the fishermen identified him as Brayo, the officers cocked their guns and threatened to shoot them.

She further alleged that the officers did not interact with the youths; they only handled his body and took it away.
Odhiambo’s mother further narrated that after she received information that her son’s body had allegedly been taken by the officers, she went to the mortuary to confirm whether his body had arrived this week.

Brian’s mother is now demanding that the officers who allegedly took Brian’s body return it to her and his family.
“Let them return the body so we can bury him and find peace. We won’t protest in the streets. If they give us the body, we won’t go to the streets again. Even if it has decomposed, we will accept it.
I just ask that they return the body they took on the boat and left with. I will accept it as it is,” Odhiambo’s mother demanded.
Brian was reportedly last seen on Saturday, January 18, 2025, after he was allegedly taken by officers from the KWS. His family has been searching for him since his disappearance, visiting hospitals and morgues in Nakuru without success.
High Court Rules Brian Was Not in the Custody of KWS
The High Court in Nakuru on February 6 2025 ruled that Brian Odhiambo, was not in the custody of KWS officers.
Justice Julius Nangea, issuing further orders in Odhiambo’s disappearance case, stated that there was no evidence he was ever in the custody of KWS officers.

Activist and Vocal Africa CEO Hussein Khalid, who was accompanied by Odhiambo’s family members, expressed disappointment with the ruling and stated that he will appeal the court’s decision.
“We want to give firm instructions to our lawyers to appeal this decision to a higher court because it is something that cannot be accepted in modern day Kenya Today,” Khalid stated.
