Several passengers have been left with serious injuries following a grisly road accident involving two vehicles along the Nairobi -Nakuru highway.
The accident which happened on Sunday, April 21,2024 afternoon involved a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) matatu and a Noah model vehicle.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the road crash which happened at the Murengeti stage in Kiambu County along the busy highway left many passengers with injuries.
“An accident involving two passenger vehicles Classic Luxury Shuttle and Noah. This just happened now here at Murengeti stage near Uplands. A lot of people injured,” said a witness while attaching pictures of the crash.
In the photos seen by The Kenya Times, the front parts of both vehicles were heavily damaged indicating the impact of the crash.
Passengers injured in accident
Another witness further called on the public for help to aid in helping the injured passengers.
“Kindly we need emergency response ambulance because passengers are lying on the ground, and they need urgent help,” he added.

By the time of publishing this article, it was not yet clear how many people were injured in the accident and authorities are yet to issue a statement on the same. The cause of the road crash has also not yet been established.
This crash comes days after two people lost their lives in another accident just a short distance along the same highway on April 6.
The two were killed while at least 10 others were left seriously injured after an Eldoret Express bus they were travelling in crashed at Muguga area in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
Kikuyu Police Commander Ronald Kirui while confirming the early morning crash said the 62-seater bus rammed into a fuel tanker that had stalled on the road at around 5.30am.

According to the report, the bus was heading to Nairobi from Nakuru when the driver lost control and hit the truck from behind.
The injured were later taken to various hospitals within Kikuyu area as police launched investigations.
Rise in fatalities
These accidents have been part of the increased road carnage incidents recorded this year that have left a trail of casualties.
Data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) earlier this month revealed that 7,198 Kenyans have been involved in roads accidents between January 1 and April 1.
According to the Authority, this is an increase of 1,908 compared to the same period last year, with at least 1,189 losing their lives from road accidents.
On the other hand, 3,316 were seriously injured and 2,693 suffered from minor injuries.
According to the statistics, pedestrians account for the highest fatalities this year at 436, followed by motorcyclists at 276 fatalities.
At the same time NTSA noted that at least 255 passengers died in the period under review marking an increase compared to 211 last year.
