How Kware Murder Suspect Ended up in Gigiri Police Station
Jumaisi was a top and high-value suspect and had been remanded there pending plea that was to take place on Friday August 23.
Police were granted an additional seven-day last Friday, August 16 to detain three suspects linked to the Kware killings, including Collins Jumaisi and other two suspects, Amos Momanyi and Moses Ogembo.

Jumaisi is alleged to have confessed to killing up to 42 women. He claimed that his first victim was his wife, who he strangled to death and dismembered before dumping her remains at the dumpsite.
He later claimed that the police tortured him and forced him to confess to the murders.
The suspects were presented before Makadara Principal Magistrate Irine Gichobi, where the prosecution sought permission to detain them for 21 days.
After hearing submissions from both parties, the court ruled that Jumaisi, as the main suspect, should be detained at Gigiri Police Station for an additional seven days.
IG Gilbert Masengeli Says Escape Was Orchestrated by Police
Acting Inspector-General of Police Gilbert Masengeli interdicted eight police officers for allegedly aiding Jumaisi and other suspects in their escape from Gigiri Police Station.
The officers, who were immediately detained, included the Gigiri sub-county police commander, the officer commanding the station, and six other law enforcement personnel.
Among the six are the report officer, cell sentry, duty non-commissioned officer, order officer, and station guard.

Furthermore, Masengeli stated that the officers were targeted after preliminary investigations suggested an “inside job” involving officers on duty and others.
“We are investigating the incident, and our preliminary findings indicate that the escape was aided by insiders, given that officers were properly deployed to guard the station,” he said.
The police chief emphasized that the station is strategically located, making it difficult for an inmate to escape.
All cells are surrounded by a wall; to the east are police quarters, and to the west is a diplomatic police station that shares the compound.
Additionally, the station is only 50 yards from the main gate, which is well guarded by two police officers.
However, five officers from Gigiri Police Station have been detained for 14 days to facilitate the completion of investigations.
