Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched a manhunt for 35-year-old Mary Mwende Kimwalu, who is suspected of attempting to kill her ex -boyfriend.
According to DCI, Mwende stabbed her ex-boyfriend three times in the chest using a kitchen knife in April 2023 before disappearing.

The detectives have indicated that the suspect is still in the country, asking Kenyans to share any information to help with her apprehension.
Mwende had since cut communication with her family members and friends and remained in hiding.

“After the heinous attack, she went underground, carefully effacing the track behind her.

“Mwende did not only hole up, but also cut communication with her family, known friends and has since avoided places she previously frequented hence paralyzing efforts to bring her to justice,” DCI noted in a statement.

At the same time, the statement revealed that the attempted murder was committed at Mihang’o Estate in Njiru, Kayole sub-county, Nairobi.
According to records of the national registration bureau Mwende hails from Ikutha in Kitui Central at Kyoani sub-location.
In turn DCI asked for help by providing their contact details so that anyone who sees or identifies her reach out to them through their toll-free hotline number 0800 722 203 any time 24/7.

Moreover, this manhunt is launched a day after the director of Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI) Christopher Asher Wray’s visited DCI headquarters in Nairobi. His visit is set to greatly help suppress complex criminal activities, built in its capacity to combat all manner of crime.
Likewise, five DCI officers from Nairobi’s Buruburu police station were arrested, in Tanzania for trespassing while following cross-border motor vehicle theft suspects.
In addition, one Tanzanian within Tarakea town had been arrested on claims of receiving stollen motor vehicles from Kenya.

Also, Tanzanian officers arrested the Kenyan detectives along with the suspects. The officers are yet to be released and have been moved to Rombo Mkuu District Headquarters.
The DCIO Kajiado south tried to negotiate for the release of the officers but was unable to sway a mutual agreement.
The subcounty security intelligence team is following up the issue to ensure the release of the officers.
