The reports further indicated that the lawmaker was on her way there to honor the summons.
Shortly after, Gathoni, in an update on her X account, broke her silence, claiming that she was summoned through a telephone call.

The lawmaker alleged that the summons was because of the “defiance by Githunguri residents”.
“The CCIO Kiambu has, through a telephone, called and summoned me because the great people of Githunguri refused to be lured to fake promises and projects that never materialized,” Wamuchomba said.

She added, “Arrests you can do, but that will not change the facts!”
The exact reason for the summons has not been disclosed by the authorities, but preliminary reports indicate that they are related to her alleged involvement in anti-Ruto chants on Friday evening in her constituency.

Ruto to visit Githunguri during his tour in Kiambu
The summons come just hours before President William Ruto visits Githunguri in Kiambu County, where he is set to conclude his 5-day tour of the Mt. Kenya region.
President Ruto began his extensive tour of the restive region on April 1, which is his first in six months following the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Already, the Head of State has toured the counties of Laikipia, Meru, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Embu and Nyeri over the past four days, where he has received a warm reception despite initial concerns.
In Kiambu County, Ruto is set to inspect the ongoing construction of the Mau Mau Roads at Nyanduma in Lari and assess the construction of cold rooms at various markets and the affordable housing projects in the county.
He will also inspect ongoing government projects such as the Githunguri County Integrated Industrial Park which is located in MP Wamuchomba’s backyard.

This means that Ruto’s tour of Kiambu County is of particular interest given that the lawmaker has been one of his critics.
Wamuchomba continues criticizing Ruto’s govt
Gathoni, an ally of former DP Gachagua’s camp, has in recent times become a thorn in the government’s side, remaining critical of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Earlier in March, she maintained her criticism on President Ruto accusing him of abandoning his campaign manifesto.
The legislator, who was first elected as Kiambu County Woman Representative, openly questioned Ruto’s promise to provide chapati to schoolchildren in Nairobi.
While speaking in an interview with Citizen Digital, she labeled the promise it as unrealistic and populist.
“We have a president who is a populist, and unfortunately, this does not augur well. All he is doing is promising popular projects that he cannot deliver. Promising the people of Nairobi chapati is simplistic. If he cannot even feed his military for lunch, what capacity does he have to feed the children of Nairobi?” Wamuchomba posed.
The former Kiambu women rep also accused the Head of State of engaging in divisive politics, pointing out she believes the president has shifted from a unifying national agenda.
