Former Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter was on Sunday June 30, 2024, allegedly arrested.
In a post via his Facebook account, Keter noted that he has been abducted and is currently headed to an unknown destination.
“Abducted, headed to unknown destination,” said the MP
Embakasi East Mp Babu Owino confirmed that Keter was arrested while attending a church service.
“Hon.Alfred Keter has been arrested while in church. Intimidation won’t scare us. We are too focused. #FreeAlfredKeter,” Babu tweeted.

How Alfred Keter was Abducted
A video has since been making rounds depicting three masked men forcing Keter out of his vehicle and taking him into a waiting double cabin with registration number KBE 256H.
Further reports indicate that the men allegedly abducted Keter as he was leaving for a church mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Lavington area.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna criticized Keter’s abduction.
“This here is why #RutoMustGo. Let no one lie to you, there will be no “change of heart” for this regime. We cannot live like this. Kenya must remain a constitutional democracy. @MarthaKoome @ODPP_KE. we are looking at you,” he wrote.
Keter, is a firebrand critic of The Kenya Kwanza government and vocal supporter of ongoing anti-government protests in Kenya.

Keter Criticizing Kenya Kwanza Government
He has been urging President Ruto to resign for lying to hustlers and imposing contentious taxes.
The vocal legislator on June 29 hit out at the government, saying the increased cost of living is impoverishing a majority of Kenyans who can no longer afford basics.
“Zakayo!! Stop imposing yourself on us and staging Public Relations Exercises in State House. You lost credibility long time ago. The honorable thing to do is to resign!!” Keter posted on his X.
“This is the generation Zakayo thought he could lie to or propagate propaganda to deceive them!!”
While attending Fred Omondi’s funeral on June 29 in Siaya, Keter urged the Siaya residents to stay alert, noting that the Eldoret residents had decided for President William Ruto to go home as a one-term President.
“I will say as it is without any fear, the people of Kenya lost hope in this government. You can lie to them once but not always,” he stated.

He further stated in one of his posts that in the coming days, he would join Babu Owino on a countrywide tour to discredit President William Ruto’s government for its failed promises.
“I will traverse the entire country with my friend and Embakasi East MP Hon. Babu Owino to squabble and toss out all the lies and ambiguous promises made by this failed Kenya Kwanza government,” he said.
Keter had a falling out with President Ruto after being denied a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket leading up to the 2022 general election.
