KBC Radio Taifa journalist Edmond Salasya has died after suffering a lung collapse.
Journalist Stephen Mukangai announced Salasya’s death on Thursday, September 10, describing him as both a colleague and a brother.
Mukangai mourned Salasia, recalling the memories they shared and the impact he had on those around him.
“Your voice, your presence and the memories you created with us will forever remain in our hearts,” Mukangai said.
Media Fraternity Mourns Edmond Salasya, Tributes Pour In
Bonnie Musambi has mourned his former Radio Taifa colleague Edmond Salasya, describing him as a dear friend and fellow rhumba enthusiast.
Musambi said the two colleagues often called each other “Manze Osuofia” and shared a close friendship during their time at Radio Taifa.
He said Salasya’s death had hit him hard, especially after hearing him on air just the previous night.
Musambi sent his condolences to Salasya’s family, friends and the KBC community, saying he would stand with them to ensure his former colleague receives a fitting send-off.
“My former colleague at Radio Taifa and such a dear friend. We always called each other “Manze Osuofia.” My fellow rhumba enthusiast,” he said.

Sempai Salasya remembered Edmond Salasya’s final interaction, saying they had spoken at the KBC Mess on Tuesday.
In a tribute, he described the late journalist as legendary and expressed disbelief over his death.
He also conveyed his condolences to Salasya’s family on behalf of the KBC fraternity, ending his message with a prayer for his eternal rest.
Enock Bosire, a colleague and friend of Edmond Salasya, said he was met by sad faces when he arrived at work on Thursday morning before learning of Salasya’s death.
Bosire noted that Radio Taifa listeners had heard Salasya on air the previous night between 8pm and midnight.
He remembered his colleague for his Lingala greetings, saying he would miss the distinctive way Salasya welcomed listeners.

Who Was Salasya?
Edmond Salasya was a Kenyan broadcast journalist who worked for the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), where he was a familiar voice on Radio Taifa and the KBC Kiswahili Service.
He was known for his Swahili-language broadcasts and had built a following among Radio Taifa listeners across the country.
Colleagues have remembered him for his contribution to broadcasting, professional dedication and the close relationships he maintained with fellow journalists.
Salasya’s voice was heard on Radio Taifa, which broadcasts nationally through frequencies including 100.8 FM in Mombasa, 104.5 FM in Kisumu, 104.1 FM in Nakuru and 92.9 FM in Nairobi.
