The Cabinet Secretary nominee for Interior and National Administration Prof. Kithure Kindiki has declared his net worth. While appearing before the vetting Committee on Thursday, August 1, Kindiki said he has a net worth of Ksh694 million.
This is an increase compared to the Ksh544 million value he declared on October 18, 2022, when he appeared before a similar a committee after President William Ruto picked him as Interior CS.
“I have also been asked about my net worth which has increased from Ksh544 million to Ksh694 million. It is true because before I was appointed my wealth was at Ksh544 million. I said at that time that I have run a business which today I don’t practice law, but my law firm is alive and working,” he said.
In 2022, Kindiki said his net worth was Ksh544 million and explained that his sources of wealth included his law practice, salary from his previous employment as well as entrepreneurship.
“At the moment I am an advocate at the High Court where I practice law. I am also a businessperson running a number of businesses, SMEs and I’m also a consultant for local and international organizations,” Kindiki told the committee.
Kindiki explained that much of the increased revenue has come from his law firm which is still active but is still being managed by other people.
The CS nominee explained that he spends his salary and allowances on paying bills.
“Therefore, the increment in my net worth is because of three things: The legal fees some of which were still pending by the time I was when being appointed. I said that there were some unpaid legal fees which some of them were paid,” he said.
“Other than that, I do small businesses, none of my money has come from the public except for the salaries and allowances that I am entitled to.”
